Zach and Lydia are some of the most joyful, open-hearted, fun people that I’ve ever met. I feel incredibly honored to have been a part of their wedding, and I can’t wait to see both of them again.

Ruth and Jay were such an incredibly fun couple to work with! They both came to the shoot prepared to do whatever we asked, and brought with them several really cute outfits for us to choose from. We had a great time leading them around Central Park, to our new friend Kishan (who was kind enough to provide us with about twenty minutes of giant bubbles), and finally to High Line Park for some night shots. Contrary to what they had told us, they are actually an extremely photogenic couple and a joy to be around. We can’t wait to photograph them again in the future!
For this engagement shoot we decided to take Marissa and Patrick out on a date in NYC. They are such a fun couple and we loved leading them around the city and capturing their adventures throughout the day: going to the Grey Dog for a beer and a sangria, taking the train up to Central Park, canoeing around Bethesda Fountain, then rushing through the rain to grab dinner and get them back to the bus station in time for their trip home to Rhode Island. We really enjoyed being able to tailor this shoot to their personalities and can’t wait to do the same for our next clients!
It’s always fun to have time to shoot whatever the heck you want. Jon, David and I, had that chance a while back and I never quite got around to posting them until now. Enjoy! :) ~ Dakota
Last Tuesday, my good friend Bri Johnson and I had the chance to photograph Michael & Viktorija’s wedding. It was pretty spectacular to say the least–sailing on a boat surrounded by the city lights.
Having photo-assisted Michael for several months, it’s been great witnessing his creative relationship with Viktorija. They complement each other perfectly, Viktorija being a make-up artist and Michael, a fashion & beauty photographer. What they share is truly special. It is the kind of relationship that most creative people hope to have. It felt so good to be part of their day.
Andrea and Will are both musicians and friends of mine from Knoxville, TN. Kris and I were so excited when they asked us to shoot their wedding, and it ended up being the most beautiful ceremony we had ever been a part of. Everything–from their self written vows, to Andrea coming down the aisle to a song that Will composed the night before, to the desserts at the reception (all made by friends and family), speaks of the love and commitment that surrounds this couple. We were truly honored to be a part of it!
David and Chelsea are one of our favorite couples in the world. They never let us down when we’re in need of some good company for a vanilla chai latte from Cafe Eclectic in Montclair, NJ. Kris had been getting excited about the cherry blossom festival for quite a while, so we finally got out there for a shoot, and had so much fun!
P.S. Sorry it was so cold Chels!
I had the chance to assist and second-shoot for our good friend David Ducane. We had such a good time photographing Casey and her family. They totally knew how to have a good time! I wish Dakota was with us but he was in the city riding with Critical Mass. Here are some of the photos from that day. :) Enjoy!
While visiting in Manila, Dakota and I had the chance to meet and photograph Geraldine and Mark. My good friend Lesh thought it would be a great idea to give them an engagement shoot as her advanced wedding present. These are some of our favorites! Hope you like them too!
We started shooting at 3pm and we expected it to be really hot and humid. Amazingly, the weather cooperated. It was a breezy day and they were beautiful together, like coffee and milk. :)
What was best about this day was the amount of trust that they gave Dakota and me. They made it so easy for us to photograph them. Both were confident and were open to trying anything that we directed. We felt free to experiment and have some fun! They even brought their own props! As the day progressed, I would ask if they needed to take a break to eat or drink some water but guess what? They also brought some chips to snack on! Can I just say that I love the Philippines? I just loved how involved and prepared they were to be with us for a day. :)
